Takes $2,000 National Scholarship

SSgt
Wendy Dwight from the 733d Air Mobility Squadron earned "Shogun
Chapter's" nomination and won one of five National Scholarships for
2001. Shogun President Dave Haar presented Wendy the big
prize--$2,000 from National--on November 26, 2001 at Kadena's "Health
of the Fleet" forum.
Sergeant
Dwight is an aircraft communications and navigations system specialist who
works flight line maintenance on transiting C-5, C-17, C-141, and KC-10
aircraft. She is a recent
Airman Leadership School Distinguished Graduate, and CCAF graduate awarded
an Eagle Grant Scholarship. She
is currently enrolled in University of Maryland’s Psychology and
Sociology programs, and was 733d LG’s Airman of the Year for 2000.
The LOA
scholarship program is intended to assist the most deserving Air Force,
Army, Navy, Marine, Cost Guard, National Guard, or Reserve enlisted or DoD
civilian in a logistics specialty, with college expenses.
In the past, the award recipients have received checks for up to
$2000 to help with their college expenses. The Okinawa LOA is an
officially chartered Kadena Air Base organization. It’s mission is to
enhance the mentorship and professional development of logistics officers
and encourage crosstalk between logistics officers from all branches of
the US military along with civilians and officers from other countries.
The Shogun Chapter wishes SSgt Dwight the best with her continuing
education.
